The Only Solution to Our Struggle

Most people I know are broken to some extent, whether they realize it or not.

As human beings, we are born empty.

People have all sorts of different ways of filling the emptiness...

Alcohol or drugs.

Sex or porn.

Overeating or undereating.

For me, it used to be undereating.

[Praise God for freedom from the chains of a decade-long struggle.]

But as I've learned through my church's recovery ministry,

It's not really about my eating disorder.

There is a deeper issue at the heart of every struggle we face.

"The struggle that brought you to recovery is only a symptom of a deeper heart issue."

The heart of the issue is our brokenness -

Our inability to find everything we need within ourselves.

But wait.

Say that again?

"Our inability to find everything we need within ourselves."

We'll never find what we are looking for when we look to ourselves.

We are broken.

Sinful.

Empty.

For this reason, we must seek a solution outside ourselves.

Something beyond.

Something much greater.

Something much stronger.

The only real, lasting solution to our daily struggle:

Jesus.

Jehovah.

Savior.

God.

The One who saved me from my struggle, and the One who can save you too.

He is the One who knows me and still loves me in spite of me.

He is the One who formed me in my mother's womb (Jeremiah 1:5, Psalm 139:13).

The One who calls me His.

The One who calls me Beautiful.

[He is my Everything.

My Source of Life and Light.

My Strength.

My Solution.]

The One who gets me through the day.

The One who holds my path.

The One who is writing and rewriting my story.

It's all about Him; always has been; always will be.

***

Lord,

It's all about You today.

Speak to us.

Show us Your path,

And we will walk in it.

"Trust in the Lord and do good;

Dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the Lord,

And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;

Trust in Him, and He will act.

The steps of a man are established by the Lord,

When He delights in His way;

Though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong,

For the Lord upholds His hand.

The law of his God is in his heart;

His steps do not slip.

The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;

He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.

The Lord helps them and delivers them;

He delivers them from the wicked and saves them,

Because they take refuge in Him."

Psalm 37:3-5, 23-24, 31, 39-40
