You are You

There is immense Beauty in this world, that's for sure.

Sometimes it's just harder to see.

You're blind to it.

Blind until you sprint right up to Beauty's nose and look right into its eyes.

Other times, it hits you like a ton of bricks before you can even prepare yourself.

Yet most of the time, it's s i m p l e.

Beauty is a simple thing.

It's a cup of coffee in the morning as you plan your day.

It's a smile from a stranger as you walk to class.

It's free time with your friends in the midst of a cluttered week.

It's a professor who actually cares how you are doing.

It's the sunset after a long, hard day's work.

Beauty is a simple thing.

Sooner or later in life you find that Beauty has been there the whole time.

Most of the time, you just didn't have eyes to see it.

Or you refused to see it.

You refused to see that where you are is where you're mean to be.

And that the past does not define you.

And instead, the past has brought you to where you are today.

And where you are today is simple, beautiful, wonderful, you.

That's the moment, my friends.

That's the moment when you look back and think,

Wow, I wouldn't change a thing.

Not that you don't want to change a thing -

Oh boy, you wish you could!

But instead that if you had the choice, you wouldn't.

Because now, you are you.

You are finally you.

And there's nothing anyone can do about it.

You are YOU - simple, beautiful, wonderful you.

And that, my sweet dear readers, is what beauty means:

The freedom and courage to be yourself.
